Hey guys. If you've ever listened to when of my songs you've probably noticed I use a sort of 'electronic' effect on my vocals. This 'electronic' effect is the result of pitch correction set to an extreme. Pitch correction is the process of correcting the intonation of an audio signal without affecting other aspects of its sound. Pitch correction first detects the pitch of an audio signal by looking for a periodic repeating waveform and then calculating the time difference from these periodic waveforms.(Definition from Wikipedia) Many artists use pitch correction such as T-Pain, Akon, Chris Brown, and many other artists of other genres. The most popular is Auto-Tune by Antares, but Auto-Tune and other alternatives can cost $300 or more dollars. I've recently been experimenting with a more 'pocket-friendly' alternative known as G-Snap. G-Snap is not as high-quality as Auto-Tune, but you can get a similiar effect on your vocals.
G-Snap is a FREE pitch correction VST GVST offers. The makers do ask for a donation to keep it free, but it is not mandatory. I do recommend you donate though I mean come on it's free. Go to www.gvst.co.uk/gsnap.htm to download it.
